PHILADELPHIA ECF HISTORY
The Employee Community Fund of Boeing is an outlet for Boeing employyes to donate money to the charitable institutions in the community. In Philadelphia, the Fund, known as the Good Neighbor Fund, has been in business for many years, and has a proud tradition of service to the community. Each year, thousands of our less-fortunate friends and neighbors rely on the generous donations of Boeing employees to meet their various needs.
This effort has enjoyed tremendous success, especially since 1993, a special year for the Fund drive. In 1993, steps were taken on several levels to ensure a total team effort in our fund drive. Local 1069 members joined with salaried Boeing employees on all levels of the campaign. That year's campaign showed a remarkable 47% increase in funds, with over $1,000,000 collected, a first for Philadelphia. Since that time, the ECF drive has continued to average over $1,000,000 a year, thanks again to the generosity of our co-workers. Below you can see where some of the funds have gone to help, either directly contributed by employees, or sent through a grant from the ECF Board of Directors.
Donations:
In 2001, the ECF Board was able to send more than
$1.1 million dollars, just from the Ridley plant, to help our friends and
neighbors in need in our commuinities. Thanks to your generous contributions,
thousands of people in need were able to receive help. Agencies that
were helped reached across a vast spectrum of needs, including emergency
housing and food, child care, education, elder care, help for those with
physical disabilities, and help for our own brothers and sisters when needed.
Sincere thanks from the ECF Board of Directors go to all of the contributors
to this worthy cause!
